It's been a while.
It's been a while since there was more water in my body than what was coming out of it
It's been a while since the smiles I gave out to the world were genuine ones
It's been a while since I joined a group for a picture, a joke for collective laughter
It's been a while since my writing reeked of anything but suppressed inner monologues
It's been a while since whatever I saw around me wasn't dark
It's been a while since I've actually slept a good night's sleep
It's been a while since I've found stories of love to be even minutely true
It's been a while since my hope for resurrection has resurfaced
It's been a while since I've gone towards the lighter corners of the room to be my own company
It's been a while since I've looked at the night sky and focused on the stars

Even the stars, considered the strongest balls of light, albeit thousands of miles away, could make the night sky a little less dark before they died and just stuck. Changing the sky to a lighter shade within jet black, but no one would ever know. Maybe, that's what we do too, try to make the world a little less dark before we just die and stick, never to move again.
