Killing In The Name Of Culture..(Part 2)
Coming back to this highly hidden topic of "supposed secularism"..the paradoxical statements provided by Indians on the verge of the most awaited sports competition this year was expected and highly disgusting.Especially seen in the Pakistan vs. India match..in which a lot of Indians proudly put up statuses saying.."World Cup har jaingey..par "Mullon" sey nhi harengey."Yeah, they used the exact word in that atrociously exact statement.
I mean..WHAT! People pretending to be secular will lead India nowhere, no wonder backward traditions are still prevalent in all parts of the society..if people from educated households talk like this, what can we expect from our rural populations? And we go as far as to blame an entire caste to protect our lopsided mindsets about religion and discriminating practices. This statement proves like none other that we are still stuck in an pre-partition environment..even though it has been years since the Partition actually took place.
"Secularism" which was initially borrowed from the British Constitution and then rendered according to Indian contexts was supposed to promote equality to minorities,well..that was the initial aim of B.R Ambedkar anyway.By abolishing untouchability we were supposed to move forward..to a more diverse and open minded perspective about religion. But recently??..we have been doing nothing but discriminating...nothing at all.Now I kind of believe the notion that India is known for "not following laws".We are rebels...the difference is that we are not fighting for the good of anything,we are just making sure that we have a civil war on our hands by the end of this century. Our leaders did not have this in mind when they designed the Constitution.
Hence,I come back to my initial point..when Shakespeare wrote "All the world's a stage.and all the men and women are merely players.."?India took it way too literally and started playing the roles of pretend secularists..while in real life they were just as discriminating as the others.
P.S-If this post was too long..I apologize. What do you guys think?..Is India really promoting a secularist approach?or is it all just a mask?
Signing Off....Adios....Mi Amigos.
